IMPRO e.V. is an association of 18 companies from the precision mechanics and fine mechanics sector in and around the traditional industrial location of Glashuette/Osterzgebirge as well as the Dresden region. IMPRO e.V. is today the most important regional association for the members, serving the functions of contact, communication and campaign platform for the mainly owner-managed small and medium size companies.
The main goals and tasks are: Promoting and encouraging future lead specialists and managers within the sector Brand development “Precision Region Osterzgebirge” and “Saxon Precision” Joint customer and market development Production cooperation and service exchange Development of innovation potential for products and technology Involvement in committees and support of regional administration General strengthening and development of the region
In 2000, IMPRO was founded by four companies with the aim to focus joint interests and activities. In 2004 IMPRO e.V. was registered in the register of associations as “Interessenverband Metall und Praezisionstechnik Osterzgebirge e.V.” and already had at that point 18 member companies.
IMPRO today employs a total of approx. 1,000 employees as well as approx. 100 trainees with an upward trend. Precision mechanics’ sector is the most important industrial employer in Osterzgebirge alongside the world-famous Glashuette watchmaking industry. Our products are indispensable pre-products or supply products for all sectors e.g. machine and vehicle manufacturing, medical engineering, communications technology and many more. As of 2005, IMPRO has been operating the "Precision Mechanics Specialist Network" and has become an active partner of schools, industrial training facilities and administration. In 2007, the members founded the Precision Mechanics' Centre Glashuette as a joint office with the aim to develop new markets nationally and for regional production cooperation to promote growth and employment. Since 2003 IMPRO e.V. holds the “Bärensteiner Gespräche" which is a regional conference of the companies on current economic topics such as market, technology, specialist staff, cooperation and innovation. We would like to thank the Free State of Saxony and the European Union for their present support of our specialist network and IMPRO Precision Mechanics’ Centre implementation projects. IMPRO will continue to develop solution strategies specifically suitable for KMU such as cooperation and specialisation and implements those target-oriented with partners.
